About

Friends of Red Rock Canyon (Friends) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1984, whose mission is to promote the preservation and enhancement of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area through volunteerism, philanthropy and education.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA) spans almost 200,000 acres and is home to:

  • world class climbing routes
  • a vast network of hiking, cycling and equestrian trails
  • a beautiful Visitor Center with a Mojave desert tortoise habitat
  • a 13-mile scenic driving loop, and
  • abundant desert plants and wildlife.

Friends of Red Rock Canyon manages multiple programs that directly support our mission of preserving and enhancing Red Rock Canyon NCA through philanthropy, volunteerism and education.

Support-A-Tort
Program

Support

Our organization works daily to enhance the visitor experience at Red Rock Canyon NCA and to mitigate the impact of those same visitors (over 2 million annually). Our volunteers maintain trails, pick up trash, remove graffiti, staff the information desk, survey cultural resources, care for the tortoises and their habitat, remove invasive plants, install fences, paint, and perform a myriad of other activities at Red Rock Canyon.

We are not able to do this work without community support! Please consider helping our organization and Red Rock Canyon NCA in one or more of the following ways:

VolunTeer

Have you ever wondered how you could help preserve, protect and enhance one of your favorite recreational places? Volunteer!

Keeping Red Rock Canyon NCA’s nearly 200,000 acres of climbing routes, hiking, cycling and equestrian trails, and visitor center and scenic loop amenities in great condition for our almost 2,000,000 annual visitors takes many willing hands and other resources. Friends of Red Rock Canyon provides the tools, materials and safety gear for Red Rock Canyon NCA projects (e.g., gloves, trash pickers, safety vests, trash bags, shovels, native plant seeds, fencing materials and more), and our 300+ volunteers provide much of the labor.
